Lufthansa Cargo has resumed its Sharjah-Pakistan operations, after the service was disrupted due to the September 11 events.
The cargo carrier has started its Pakistan services with a new routing that flies Sharjah-Karachi-Lahore-Sharjah aboard an MD-11 freighter twice a week.
The new operation is consequent to increased demand on this route, and the recovery in market confidence, said John Koopman, regional handling services
manager for the Middle East, Pakistan |
and Iran.
He expected the market to recover fully by summer.
Koopman said the new service had been started from Sharjah due to the airport's operational efficiency, its state-of-the-art facilities and the cordial ties the carrier enjoys with the officials here.
Airport authorities, meanwhile, asserted Sharjah continues to maintain its position as the top air cargo hub in the Middle East.
