SHARJAH: Eva Air, a division of Evergreen Group will introduce
its first cargo flight to Sharjah today. The maiden flight
is expected to touch down at Sharjah International Airport this morning
at 6 o'clock. Eva Air, which started operations in Taiwan in July 1991,
has proved to be one of the world's fastest grow- ing airlines.
Initially the airline will operate a MD 11 F freighter
between Taipei and Sharjah every week. The airlines,
which caters to over 30 destinations has about |
28 aircraft
in its fleet, including three MD 11 Fs ( which has a capacity
to carry 80 tonnes ), three 747-400s, nine 747-400 combi,
five 767 - 300s, four 767 - 200s and three
MDIIPs. All these put together can carry some 725 tonnes. Eva
Air also utilises its passenger fleet to support cargo movement.
The airline flies to America 88 times
a week and operates 264 flights every week between
Taipei and Asia and twenty - four flights each between Taipei and
Europe and Taipei and Australia. |
