Sharjah to take part in Hong Kong cargo show

The Sharjah Airport stand at the Air Cargo Forum and Exposition ACF 2002 to be held in Hong Kong from September 17-20 will reflect various aspects of the airport and the cultural heritage of the Emirate. According to airport officials, the design of the stand includes the airport's three domes to highlight the importance of the heritage and culture of the place.

Another aspect of the stand is the symbolic representation of aircraft tails, which according to the officials, explains Sharjah Airport's expertise in swapping to full load aircraft (200 tonnes) within 90 minutes.

The ACF, which is being organised by the TIACA, is one of the major cargo conferences and exhibitions conducted every year. More than 130 exhibitors are participating in this event and more than 7000 trade visitors are expected to attend it. Participation at this exhibition has been steadily increasing each year giving participants a bigger reach. Sharjah Airport is participating in the exhibition for the second time.

This year, Hong Kong has been chosen as the venue to hold the forum. The country is an ideal location in Asia Pacific region as it has cemented its place on the world air cargo map. Being a major cargo hub in Asia, Sharjah Airport decided to participate in the event to showcase its personalised services, facilities it offers and to create awareness about them in the international market.

"This event is a great opportunity for us to meet potential key players in the air logistics field from airlines, cargo handlers, freight forwarders, shippers, airports and other industry players. It is indeed an ideal opportunity to display Sharjah Airport's distinguished services and facilities it offers," said Dr Ghanem Al Hajri, director general of Sharjah Airport Authority.

He added that the services that the airport offers included self-handling facility for airlines, fueling services, and above all its strategic location in the region. He also said plans to participate in this exhibition were scheduled long ago as part of the airport's international marketing and promotional campaign. The airport will continue participating in international exhibitions in the future.

The delegation will be led by Ali Salem Al Midfa, director administration and commercial and will comprise Ali Kombargi, director freight centre, Jacob Chacko, marketing executive and two customer service staff. At the meeting, the delegation will announce the airport's customised services where its strategy depends on working with existing customers as partners and welcome potential customers with its friendly staff attitude.
